Twenty-Two Random Facts
1. When my mom was pregnant, her doctor
told her she was having twins. It wasn't true, but she picked out names for
them - if I'd been the 2nd girl I would have been named Katarina Kigva Ruth.
2. My mom is my best friend and my partner in crime. I have no
intention of ever moving out.
3. I was suicidal in 1986 and the only reason I am alive today was that
I found hope reading Liber al vel Legis (The Book of the Law).
Aleister Crowley has been my personal hero ever since.
4. I used to drive a taxi here in Louisville
5. At one time I had intentions of being a truck driver and took three
weeks of classes for a class-A CDL license.
6. When my mom and I moved back to Louisville in 1992 we had $50 between
us and spent nine months living in homeless shelters.
7. Among other foods, I don't like hot dog buns, ketchup, or popcorn --
and I DETEST diet soda.
8. We eat about 50% organic and vegetarian, depending on the budget.
9. I have read Watership Down 864 times. My goal is a thousand.
10. My first website was a Sailor Moon fansite that I put up in 1995.
11. I've seen The Rolling Stones at the Max 58 times in the the
IMAX theatre. I also own the DVD.
12. I was brought up listening to Lawrence Welk and until 1990 hated rock
music. My friend Drew got me to listen to REM and I was hooked.
13. I made a chili that is so hot it was deemed unfit for human
consumption.
14. I was introduced to The Rolling Stones because I saw Freejack
and thought Mick Jagger was hot. I had never heard the band's music before this.
I went to see the IMAX movie because I recognized Mick in the poster as 'that
hot guy in Freejack.' I believe my reaction was 'hey, he has a band!'
After that I took a class on the history of rock and was hooked.
15. I print out slash stories that I like - and keep them organized in
file boxes with hanging file folders that are filed alphabetically by fandom and
pairing. I have two boxes just for Star Trek slash and one just for
Smallville slash.
16. I worked for UofL Bookstore when it was run by Wallace's and was
there when that company went bankrupt. We had nothing to sell but were still
paid to show up. I spent this time reading slash on the net and being paid to do
it.
17. Everything in my house is organized, including DVDs by title, CDs by
artist, comics by title and studio, books by author, manga by title - except for
the drawers of my desk, which is where I just stuff everything I don't know what
to do with. I've tried to organize these drawers, but it always ends up this
way.
18. I collect Breyer models, My Little Ponies, Beanie Babies, action
figures, Fire King dishes, various random toys, and lunchboxes.
19. I bought my house for $4000.
20. I buy somewhere around 20-40 comics a month. I'm trying to cut
back.
